Moto Z2 moniker confirmed by tipster
The Moto Z was a pretty good flagship, thanks to the kind of features that were packing on board. Now that we’re almost nearing the one year mark since its arrival, new reports are talking about the smartphone’s successor already.
Renowned source of leaks, @evleaks, claims that the smartphone will be known simply as the Moto Z2. This is barely a surprise considering the fact that the company started a brand new device lineup with the Moto Z, ditching the Moto X in the process. So it’s only fair that the second phone in the lineup is known as the Moto Z2.
Not much is known about the hardware at this point, but some leaks have revealed that the handset will feature 4GB of RAM, the octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor, along with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. A device bearing the model number XT1650 was spotted on the Geekbench database recently and is rumored to be the Moto Z2.
We expect the handset to come with more Moto Mods this time around, given how popular they were with the Moto Z. Going by last year’s launch, we’re still some distance away from the arrival of the Moto Z2, so we should expect to find out more about the handset in the weeks to come. There is word that the handset might come with an iris scanner on board, joining a handful of devices in the market.
